Each row is one continuous stretch with no fixed speed limit. Tap a stretch to see it on the map, or tap the sign for every section of that Autobahn.
Each direction is counted separately. Where both directions run side by side, the stretch appears only once, with the longer of the two lengths.
The map shows Autobahn sections tagged maxspeed=none. The site fetches them via the Overpass API and keeps them in your browser for seven days.
Temporary limits and the current state of variable signs are not in the data. Roadworks come from Die Autobahn GmbH, but not always completely. Where nobody has mapped a speed limit yet, a section may be missing.
The map and alerts are an overview, not navigation. Road signs and German traffic law always apply. Don't use the app while driving.
For comparison: in 2015 the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) counted around 18,100 km of carriageway with no speed limit, just over 70 percent of the network. This figure is closest to the “both directions” value above. BASt survey 2015 (in German) ›
